Narcos, Stranger Things and The Crown are just a handful of the shows, films, docs and comedies streaming on Netflix. As our content slate continues to grow, we’re looking for a Social Media Manager to run title campaigns on behalf of Netflix originals for the Indian market. After our global launch last year, we are enthusiastic about our growth opportunity in India and are looking to scale the social media team.
The social media manager for global series, docs and films will lead strategy and creative for local positioning and will be responsible for launching campaigns that get people so excited for the Netflix original titles that they sign up. The successful candidate will display the curiosity to learn the Netflix business, analyse high volumes of information quickly, and make smart choices. We are looking for a marketer who is not afraid to lean in to risk, take initiative and make big bets. The manager will be responsible for our entertainment campaigns in India and should be fearless in bearing that responsibility.
The manager will be well-versed with both the Indian entertainment landscape as well as Hollywood. Their strategy should leverage local insight to make global shows relevant and exciting for the Indian audience. The manager shouldn’t be afraid of volume of work and should be able to prioritise effectively.
Intuition drives great creative but so does data and analytics, the candidate should be comfortable using analytics to measure what success looks like and identify where our next win is.
Creatively, the manager will be able to define what a localised campaign will look like for India based with the goal of driving word of mouth for our titles. With our strong brand and titles, we try to earn as many impressions as we can get before buying them.
The candidate must be an avid fan of entertainment – both global and local and be able to glean insights as to what would make a title work in India. The right hire will have a solid understanding of the Indian entertainment landscape and consumer insights. They will need to be strong storytellers who can reflect the quality of our global originals. The manager will work closely with the originals team in Hollywood to make our shows relevant for Indian viewers. They will also develop relationships with key opinion leaders and leverage owned and more importantly earned platforms to drive brand messaging.
The India social manager (series, film and docs) will manage agencies, develop creative, and even work with talent from time to time to make our global originals appeal to the Indian audience. He or she will need to have impeccable taste, vision for how to stand out from the competition, and a strong instinct for ideas that will get consumers talking.
The manager will have 7+ years of experience with launching films, series, gaming, live and sporting events or similar formats of entertainment in India. The candidate will have to get their hands dirty in setting strategy for titles and executing outstanding creative, experience that reflects this skill set would be key. This role will be based in Mumbai and will be reporting to the India social media country lead.
